Sustainability is part of everything we do at
En Route. We believe it’s about looking at the whole picture, not just what happens to our waste, but the choices we make throughout the salon every day.
We’ve made changes to reduce our energy and water use, choose more sustainable products, refill wherever possible and use environmentally conscious cleaning products. We also look at the resources we use, how we can reuse them and how we can reduce unnecessary waste.
From the products we use on your hair, to the way we clean our salon, heat and power our space, manage water and deal with our waste, every decision is an opportunity to do things a little better.
We’re constantly learning, measuring what we can and finding new ways to make a difference, because we believe that lots of small changes, made every day, can create a much bigger impact.
We’re proud members of the Green Salon Collective, helping us take responsibility for the waste created in our salon and keep as much as possible out of landfill.
We’re part of the 1 Tonne Club, a community of salons working to divert salon waste from landfill and we’re proud to have now diverted over 1.5 tonnes of waste.
Through the Green Salon Collective, our salon waste is separated and processed for recycling, reuse and recovery wherever possible. This includes materials such as hair, foils, colour tubes and plastics.
We also use the Green Salon Collective for our disposable towels. Our Replant towels are made from responsibly sourced materials and, once used, are collected as part of our waste programme rather than going into general waste.
It’s all part of our commitment to finding better ways to manage the things we use every day reducing what goes to landfill and giving waste a new purpose wherever we can.
Colour waste is one of the biggest areas we can make a difference in a hair salon, which is why we use VISH to help us measure and manage it.
By weighing the colour we mix and what is left over, we can see exactly how much product is being used and identify where we can reduce unnecessary waste.
It helps our team make more informed decisions, use our products more efficiently and reduce the amount of colour going to waste.
For us, it’s about using what we need, reducing what we don’t and continually finding better ways to work.
